Position Overview
We are seeking a skilled and dependable Diesel & Small Engine Mechanic to repair and maintain company vehicles and equipment, including diesel and gasoline engines, small engines, pneumatic tools, roller systems, and various mechanical components. The ideal candidate is experienced, detail-oriented, and able to work independently.
Key Responsibilities
Include but are not limited to:
- Perform all types of repairs on engines, brakes, drivetrains, electrical systems, and environmental systems
- Conduct PMIs on tractors, trailers and diesel/gas powered equipment
- Test drive vehicles to verify repairs and diagnose issues
- Assist other technicians when necessary
- Overhaul and maintain diesel & gas engines, as well as automatic & manual transmissions
- Inspect engines or transmissions for conformance to standards
- Diagnose cause of nonconformance and perform corrective actions to maintain conformance
- Diagnose and repair equipment wiring
- Perform fabrication and welding as needed
- Retrieve parts from inventory and document all repair orders (R/O) and paperwork
- Maintain a clean work area and keep tools organized
- Demonstrate basic computer literacy and strong verbal communication skills
- Perform routine shop duties and other responsibilities as assigned
- Work independently with minimal supervision
Education & Experience
- Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical/vocational school
- Three to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Diesel Engine technician experience required
Certificates, Licenses, & Registrations
- Current diesel engine certifications required
- ASE Certification in PMI and Brakes required at the time of hire
- Valid state driver's license required
- Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) preferred
Physical Demands
- Frequent reaching with hands and arms, stooping, kneeling, crouching or crawling
- Occasional standing, walking, sitting, climbing, balancing, talking, hearing
- Ability to lift and/or move up to 100 pounds
- Must have strong visual abilities including close, distance, color, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus
Work Environment
- Regular exposure to inclement weather and loud noise
- Fast paced, physically demanding environment
